What does “nHD” mean?

Posted on July 16, 2008. Filed under: Definitions | Tags: |

This either means “NhaNc3d HD” or “near HD” – probably the former. It is an abbreviation used by the non-scene release group “NhaNc3″, who operate over P2P, namely through MovieX.info. Their arguent is that their nHD releases are optimized to allow playback on lower-end processors.

Here’s an example; “Spiderman.3.2007.720p.nHD.x264.NhaNc3″.

check the nfo of the release.

nHD…….: Optimize 720p HDRip

And what does that mean, exactly? I did see that it says that. I have no idea what “Optimize 720p HDRip” means.

Do you simply mean that nHD means “read the NFO”?

Either way, what does it literally stand for?

nHD is the title that a certain group gives to their lower bitrate 720p releases.

It’s a term used only by NhaNc3. I found this explanation in the .nfo for their Titanic [1997] release:

“::nHD Releases::

It’ll be just an HD Release but NhaNc3′d.

If u try to play a 720p release on slower CPU’s. You’ll go mad because of frame dropping and other issues. Our nHD will solve most of the problems. You’ll be able to play it and have near HD quality. It’ll be Anamorphic. While playing the the movie u’ll get 1280*720. Audio 6ch AAC.”

Also from the same .nfo:

“NhaNc3 Specification

MicRoHD…: 320*xxx resolution,Smart phone Compatible.
MiniHD….: Full resolution near DVD transparency.
nHD…….: Optimize 720p HDRip
S.HD……: 720p HDTV resolution with or without pan & Scan.
HD……..: HDDVD/Blue Ray Rips, 1080p/1080i
HC……..: Highly compressed DVDRips
DVDRip….: Standard resolution optimise with filter.”

In one of Nokias spec sheets it says nHD (640×360). Half the width and height of 720p.

i think It means near High Definition

The nHD is “ninth High Definition” – 1/9 HD that apart of HD technology.

nHD resolutions is 640×360 pixel.

ninth HD

my copy has nhanc3 on it. it wont play on my WD TV media player what is the problem?
Pleasese Help.

There are a thousand reasons why it won’t play.

If you can get other MKVs working, it’s probably something to do with the codec used.

This isn’t really the place for support with this sort of thing. Good luck!
